About Us
 

Our Committee has over 200 volunteers throughout the State from all walks of life. Our Committee is comprised of active and retired service members, teachers, business leaders, professionals and housewives. Our diversity is our strength.

 

Texas Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is an organization of the Department of Defense and operates under the direction of the National Committee for the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve in Washington, D. C. Our Committee offers a variety of special cost-free services to employers and Reserve Component units, to include:

 

EMPLOYER OUTREACH 

  • Operate a proactive program to educate employers, employees, and communities on the role of the National Guard and Reserve forces in the Department of Defense Total Force Policy, USERRA and the federal and state missions of the military organizations
  • Encouraging employers' voluntary compliance with federal and state statutes governing employment and reemployment rights of Reserve component members
  • Manage a proactive awards program to recognize employers providing exceptional support to their employees serving in the Reserve components 

     

    MILITARY OUTREACH 

  • Encourage open communications and interactions between Reserve Component units and their communities to promote public understanding of the military unit's role in federal and state missions
  • Educating Reserve Component members on their obligations and responsibilities to employers
  • Involving the assistance of military agencies, military schools, and military and civilian associations in the education of Reserve forces on their rights and responsibilities to an employer, as stipulated in the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)

    OMBUDSMAN SERVICES

  • Assist employers and Reservists in compliance with USERRA through education and informal, objective mediation
  • Assist employers and military unit commanders in preventing and resolving employer-employee conflicts and misunderstandings arising from reserve Component membership or military service obligations
  •  

    COMMITTEE OPERATIONS

  • Recruit, train and develop volunteers to effectively implement the committee's programs and services
  • Effectively manage resources to promote achievement of strategic goals and objectives
